On 12 September 2015, a legal aid summit was conducted at the JBL Hall in the IBP National Office.  Chapters of the Southern Luzon Region (“SLR”) were present such as, Caloocan-Malabon-Navotas, Rizal, Makati, Pasay-Paranaque-Las Pinas-Muntinlupa, Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Quezon, Aurora, Marinduque, Oriental Mindoro, and Occidental Mindoro where members of their respective legal aid committees were also present.

 

For the Makati City Chapter, President Gbert Zerrudo and Legal Aid Committee Chairman Stan Fabito attended. 

 

During the summit each chapter gave a presentation on their best practices in conducting legal aid.  A discussion by IBP National President, Rosario T. Setias-Reyes, was also conducted on the proposed draft of the Integrated Bar for the compulsory legal aid service guidelines which would implement Bar Matter No. 2012 on Mandatory Legal Aid Service for practicing lawyers.

 

The various issues and challenges that the IBP Chapters continue to face in their respective traditional legal aid work were also discussed.
